Bad Dental Habits

Your teeth are the only part of your body that cannot heal itself. Keep them protected by avoiding these bad habits.

Nail biting
Biting your nails can chip your teeth and impact your jaw. Most of the time, this vice is caused by stress. Keeping your hands busy will help you de-stress, transfer the energy and preserve your teeth!

Brushing too hard
Whether the problem is a toothbrush with hard bristles or brushing too hard, you’re putting your teeth and gums at risk for damage.
Grinding and Clenching
This stress-induced habit can cause pain, chipping, and cracking. Hold a warm washcloth against your cheek to relax your jaw and cut the caffeine out of your diet!

Eating Ice
Tooth enamel and ice are both crystals. When two crystals are pushed together, one will break. Though many time it is the ice, sometimes it can be the tooth and it’s just not worth the risk.

All Day Snacking
Especially sugar. Your teeth are never clean if you are always eating—putting you at a higher risk for cavities.

Using your teeth as tools
Holding things or opening things with your teeth. You can make your teeth weak this way, potential hazard to swallow things and you may possibly even fracture them.
