Smile-healthy salads to try this season

What you eat matters. Did you know your diet affects your overall health and the health of your smile? So, if you’re trying to make your diet greener and cleaner this spring, you’re in luck.

Here are a few smile-healthy (and tasty) salads to try this season.

Grilled salmon salad

Salmon is a great healthy protein source, especially for your pearly whites. This fish is packed with vitamin D, which helps the body absorb calcium and strengthen bones and teeth enamel. For a fresh and exciting take on this dish, add your grilled salmon to a bed of spring greens and top it with avocado, feta and pickled red onions.

Strawberry poppyseed salad

Strawberries are amazing for your oral health. Packed with antioxidants and fiber, this fruit is amazing at keeping your smile clean, while also helping prevent stains and discoloration. Add a handful of strawberries to a bed of kale and spinach. Sprinkle in some poppyseeds, blueberries and feta cheese to finish off this tasty meal. For dressing, we recommend a mixture of extra virgin olive oil and white balsamic vinegar.

Mediterranean quinoa salad

Quinoa is a superstar when it comes to the health of your smile. With magnesium and calcium, quinoa has the minerals required to keep your teeth enamel strong. This recipe is also great for prepping meals throughout the week. Cook up some quinoa and store it in the fridge for later. When you’re ready for lunch or dinner, scoop out a helping of quinoa, add cucumbers, tomatoes, chickpeas and olives. Then, add some olive oil or hummus for flavor. It’s a simple but delicious meal to add to your week.

Adding more green to your diet is a great way to boost the health of your smile, but don’t stop there. Scheduling regular cleanings is an important part of maintaining your oral health.
